Scottish Teams Pull Out of B&I Cup

Having struggled for many years in the competition, the SRU have this year decided they cannot enter any Scottish Clubs in the B&I Cup competition due to scheduling issues.

The first round of fixtures are due to take place either side of the Autumn Tests (which to me suggests that fewer pro players will be available to be released to the Club sides), and Colin says, “Given this, we simply could not support six B&I Cup games in the first half of the season as this would have a significant impact on the integrity of our own BT Premiership competition.”

Last season, first round of B&I Cup fell in mid October, though group fixtures were spread out over a number of months.

Not exactly sure where the integrity of the Premiership competition comment comes from, as fixtures for this have still to be released, so would think there is still some flexibility here.
